The Will of Elizabeth Mutlow, widow, of Bosbury, 1708


 
Summary:  Transcription of the probate copy of the Will of Elizabeth Mutlow, widow, of Bosbury dated 28th October 1708 listing as the main beneficiaries her sons, William and Thomas, and daughters Elizabeth Chadd, Ann Bennett and Susanna Johnson.  The probate copy is in a bound ledger at the Herefordshire Record Office, ref. AA20 Volume 16 page 210.

    In the name of God Amen. I, Elizabeth Mutlow, of the p[ar]ish of Bosbury in the County of Hereford, widow, being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, praise be therefore given to Almighty God, do make and ordain this my present last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through the merits, death and passion of Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor here after named and as touching the disposition of all such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me, I give and dispose thereof.

Imprimis first I will that all my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged.  Item I give to my son William Mutlow the sum of ten pounds and to be paid unto him by my Executor within the space of twelve months after my decease.  Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Chadd all my wearing apparel.  Item I give unto my daughter Ann Bennett the sum of ten pounds and to be paid unto her within the space of twelve months after my decease as abovesaid. And if it please God she shall happen to die before her money shall become due then it is my will that it shall be equally divided between her two children Richard and Elizabeth.   Item I give unto my daughter Ann Bennett all my goods and household stuff except one pair of flaxen sheets which I give unto my daughter Susanna Jonson [Johnson].  Item I give unto my son Thomas Mutlow one shilling and to be paid unto him as abovesaid. Item all the rest of my money in purse or owing to me upon bill or bond or bills or bonds or any other debts whatsoever, I give unto my son-in-law Samuel Chadd sole executor of this my last will and testament. And I do hereby disannul and make void all former wills by me heretofore made.
